And honestly? Canadians are travelling in 2026. We’re seeing families head to bucket-list spots like Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Europe (plus those classic, sunshiney all-inclusive getaways in Mexico—because sometimes you just need the easiest vacation possible, right?). The Conference Board of Canada’s Travel Markets Outlook also points to more Canadians choosing overseas and domestic destinations in 2026—so if you’re planning something big (or beautifully close to home), you’re in good company. Whether you're jetting off to visit grandparents, road-tripping to a cozy cabin, or finally taking that beach vacation you've been dreaming about, having the right essentials can make all the difference. Get ready to bookmark this page, because we've rounded up our favourite travel must-haves that'll keep your little ones comfortable and happy, and help you maintain your sanity along the way. Let's dive in! Getting Around: Choosing the Best Travel Stroller at Your Local Baby Boutique First things first, you need a stroller that can keep up with your adventures without weighing you down. Enter the UPPAbaby Minu V3. This compact wonder is basically the superhero of travel strollers. It's lightweight enough to carry through airport terminals (your arms will thank you!), yet sturdy enough to handle cobblestone streets, sandy boardwalks, and everything in between. The one-hand fold? An absolute game-changer when you're juggling a baby, a carry-on, and your boarding pass. What we love most about the Minu V3 is that it doesn't sacrifice comfort for portability. Your little one still gets a smooth ride with great suspension, a generous canopy for sun protection, and a comfortable seat that reclines for those inevitable mid-adventure naps. Plus, it fits in most overhead compartments, no gate-checking required! If you're looking for innovative baby gear Canada families can rely on, this stroller checks all the boxes. You can also purchase a backpack-ready UPPAbaby Minu Travel Bag to protect your stroller and make carrying it even more comfortable. The best part? When you use this custom travel bag, your stroller is protected by UPPAbaby’s Travel Safe program. This means UPPAbaby will cover your stroller if it’s damaged during travel while using the bag, with protection lasting for the full 3-year duration of your stroller warranty! And if you’re not on Vancouver Island, no worries—we offer fast shipping across Canada daily to all provinces, so you can shop our travel favourites from nearly anywhere (hello, easy prep!). Browse our full stroller collection to find your perfect travel companion. Innovative Sleep Solutions: Travel Cribs & The Stokke® JetKids™ BedBox™ Let's be honest, sleep is the make-or-break factor of any family trip. When babies sleep well, everyone sleeps well. And when everyone sleeps well... vacation magic happens! The Maxi-Cosi Calao Travel Crib Hotel cribs can be hit or miss (mostly miss, if we're being real). That's why packing your own travel crib is such a smart move, and the Maxi-Cosi Calao Travel Crib is our top pick for 2026 (and created by Canadian-owned company Dorel!). This beauty sets up in seconds, perfect for when you arrive at your destination after a long travel day and just need to get everyone settled. The breathable mesh sides keep airflow circulating while letting you keep an eye on your sleeping babe. It's lightweight, folds down compact for easy transport, and provides a familiar, safe sleep space no matter where you are. The best part? It grows with your family! Use the raised bassinet level for newborns, then lower it as your baby grows into toddlerhood. One travel crib, multiple stages, now that's smart packing. Perfect sleep pairing: If you want that extra peace of mind on the go, pair it with the Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360 Baby Monitor (with CryAssist technology). It’s an awesome travel monitor because you can use it without WiFi (hello, easier setup), which is especially reassuring if you’re not totally sure about the connection security wherever you’re staying. Set up the Calao, set the monitor where you want it, and you’ve basically recreated your at-home sleep setup—minus the stress. The Stokke® JetKids™ BedBox™ Now, here's something that's going to revolutionize your flights with kiddos: the Stokke® JetKids™ BedBox™. If you've ever watched your toddler struggle to get comfortable in an airplane seat, you know the struggle is real. Those little legs dangling, the awkward leaning, the constant fidgeting... The BedBox is basically the magic trick that turns a standard economy seat into a first-class-style setup for kids: use it as a comfy leg rest for lounging and screen time, or transform their seat into a little bed so they can actually stretch out and rest (instead of crumpling into a tiny ball and waking up cranky 20 minutes later). It’s easy to bring along, quick to set up once you’re on board, and it makes the whole flight feel way more doable—for your kid and for you. And bonus: it’s also a premium ride-on suitcase. The smooth swivel wheels make it easy to manoeuvre through the airport, and the top handle gives your little one something sturdy to hold while they ride (or while you pull them along—because let’s be honest, airport legs are tiny). Safe & Sound: Protecting Little Ears with Top Canadian Baby Products Airports are loud. Planes are loud. Crowded tourist spots? You guessed it, loud! All that noise can be overwhelming for little ones with sensitive ears. The Safety 1st Noise Reduction Earmuffs are an absolute must-pack item. These comfy earmuffs protect your baby's delicate hearing while helping them stay calm in noisy environments. Whether you're navigating a bustling airport, attending a family event with live music, or simply trying to help your little one nap in a busy café, these earmuffs are a lifesaver. They're adjustable to grow with your child, and padded for comfort (because what good is ear protection if they won't keep it on?). Pop them in your carry-on and you'll be so glad you did! Check out our safety collection for more must-have protective gear for your little adventurer. Travel Organization: Stylish Diaper Bags & Gear for On-the-Go Parents Here's where things get really practical. Diaper changes don't stop just because you're travelling, if anything, they seem to happen more frequently! Having a great organization system is essential. For the Minimalist Traveller: Herschel Sprout Change Mat If you already have a diaper bag you love and just need a convenient, portable change pad, the Herschel Sprout Change Mat is your answer. Available in gorgeous Trellis or Grey Crosshatch that have just arrived for Spring 2026, this change mat is stylish enough that you won't mind pulling it out in public and practical enough to handle any diaper situation. It's padded for baby's comfort, wipes clean easily (because messes happen!), and folds up compact to slip into any bag. Sometimes simple really is better. For the Prepared Parent: Herschel Strand Duffle Diaper Bag Need something more comprehensive? The Herschel Strand Duffle Diaper Bag is basically the Mary Poppins of diaper bags, it holds everything and then some! What makes this bag extra special for travel is that it doubles as a carry-on with loads of extra room for all your essentials. Inside, you'll find thoughtfully designed pockets and compartments that keep everything organized and accessible (no more digging through chaos to find that pacifier!). And the best part? It comes equipped with a change mat included, so you're ready for anything. The duffle style looks sleek and modern, you'd never guess it's a diaper bag at first glance. And once you're done with diapers, gift-away that change pad and use this versatile Herschel Supply duffle bag as the ultimate carryon or weekender bag! Happy Little Travellers: Must-Haves from Your Favourite BC Baby Shop Teething doesn't take a vacation (unfortunately!), and neither do pacifier needs. These last two items might seem small, but they can make a huge difference in keeping your baby content during travel. Itzy Ritzy Itzy Mitt Silicone Teething Mitt The Itzy Ritzy Itzy Mitt Silicone Teething Mitt is pure genius. It slips right onto your baby's hand, so they can self-soothe by chewing to their heart's content, without you constantly picking up a dropped teether from the airplane floor (we've all been there!). The textured silicone provides satisfying relief for sore gums, and since it stays on their hand, it's always within reach. No more lost teethers, no more "oops, it fell again" moments. Just happy, occupied babies. Itzy Ritzy Sweetie Strap Plus Silicone Pacifier Clip in Bear Speaking of keeping things from falling... the Itzy Ritzy Sweetie Strap Plus Silicone Pacifier Clip in Bear is adorable and functional. The soft silicone strap is gentle on baby's gums and skin, while the secure clip keeps that precious pacifier (or teething toy!) exactly where you need it. The sweet bear design adds a touch of cuteness to every outfit, and you'll love not having to fish pacifiers out from under airplane seats. It's the little things, right? Ready to Adventure? October is here, and you know what that means for us parent folk? It's Baby Sleep Safety Month! This is our annual reminder to double-check that we're creating the safest possible sleep environment for our little ones. And honestly, with so much conflicting information out there, it's more important than ever to stick to what Health Canada actually recommends for Canadian families. Here's the thing, Canadian sleep safety standards can differ from what you might read in American parenting blogs or European sleep guides. That's why we're breaking down everything you need to know, straight from Health Canada's official safe sleep guidelines, plus highlighting some amazing sleep essentials that meet (and exceed!) our Canadian safety requirements. Safe Sleep ABCs for Canadian Babies Let's start with the basics, Health Canada's ABCs of Safe Sleep. These aren't just catchy letters; they're literally life-saving guidelines that every Canadian parent should know by heart. A is for Alone: Your baby should sleep alone in their own sleep space. No sharing beds, couches, or armchairs with parents, siblings, or pets. I know those snuggly co-sleeping moments feel magical, but the safest place for baby is always their own approved crib, bassinet, or cradle. B is for Back: Always place your baby on their back for every sleep, naps & nighttime. This significantly reduces the risk of SIDS and is non-negotiable according to Health Canada standards. C is for Crib: Use a firm, flat sleep surface that's specifically designed for babies. This means a properly fitted mattress in a Health Canada-approved crib, bassinet, or cradle, nothing else will do! Health Canada's Core Safe Sleep Recommendations Now let's dive deeper into what Health Canada specifically recommends for Canadian families. These guidelines are based on extensive research & are tailored to our unique Canadian context. Room Sharing (But Not Bed Sharing!) Health Canada recommends room sharing for at least the first six months. Keep your baby's sleep space in your bedroom, close to your bed, but on their own separate sleep surface. This makes nighttime feeding easier while maintaining that crucial safety barrier. Keep It Bare: No Loose Bedding or Extras This one's huge: absolutely no loose bedding, bumper pads, pillows, blankets, toys, or stuffed animals in the sleep space. Your baby's crib should be completely bare except for a firm mattress with a tightly fitted sheet. That adorable nursery set with the matching bumpers? Save it for decoration elsewhere! Temperature Control and Breathable Sleepwear Canadian parents know our temperatures can swing wildly! Health Canada emphasizes avoiding overheating: dress your baby in light sleep clothing and keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Instead of loose blankets, opt for properly fitted sleep sacks or wearable blankets designed for infant sleep. Say No to Semi-Upright Surfaces Here's where things get really specific to Canadian guidelines: avoid letting your baby sleep regularly in car seats, strollers, swings, or bouncers. These semi-upright positions aren't recommended for extended sleep periods. Sleep Essentials That Meet Canadian Standards Ready to create the ultimate safe sleep setup? Here are our top picks for sleep essentials that not only meet Health Canada's strict safety standards but exceed them in style & functionality. Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet This beauty is everything you want in a bassinet—now with smart soothing to make nap time & nights feel a whole lot easier! CryAssist™ Technology interprets your baby's cries & tailors soothing responses Gentle rocking motions & white noise/soothing sounds, controllable via the Connected Family app A flat, firm sleep surface with EcoCare recycled fabrics & breathable mesh sides for airflow Plus, it's portable too: perfect for those first few months when you want baby close by in every room. Stokke Sleepi V3 Mini Bundle & Bed Talk about growing with your baby! The Stokke Sleepi transforms from a tiny bassinet to a full-size crib, then eventually into a toddler bed. It's oval shape creates a cozy, womb-like environment while maintaining that crucial firm, flat sleep surface Health Canada requires. The breathable mattress & adjustable height make this a long-term investment in your child's safe sleep. Maxi-Cosi Calao Light Travel Crib For families who love to travel (or just need a portable sleep solution), the Calao Light is approved for sleep in both bassinet mode & playard/crib mode. This means it meets Health Canada's standards for overnight sleep: not all travel cribs can say that! The setup is super simple, and the firm mattress ensures your little one has a safe sleep surface whether you're travelling the globe, visiting grandma's house nearby, or camping on the Island. ErgoPouch Cocoon Swaddle Bag These swaddles are absolute game-changers for safe sleep! Instead of loose blankets (which Health Canada advises against), these wearable swaddles keep baby snug & secure while maintaining that crucial back-sleeping position. The breathable bamboo fabric is perfect for our West Coast climate, and the TOG rating system helps you choose the right warmth level for different seasons. Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360° Baby Monitor & Parent Unit with CryAssist Technology Peace of mind, anyone?
