Having twins on Vancouver Island means double the adventure, and double the gear decisions! Whether you're navigating the narrow aisles at Thrifty Foods or tackling the scenic trails at Goldstream Provincial Park with your little ones, choosing the right twin stroller can make or break your family outings. Psst: If you’re shopping for twins, there’s a little extra in-store surprise just for you—details at the end of this guide...! As Vancouver Island parents know all too well, our unique landscape demands versatility. One minute you're squeezing through the historic doorways of downtown Victoria's China Town, and the next you're bumping along wooded paths around Thetis Lake. Your twin stroller needs to handle it all, and handle it well. Let's dive into what makes a double stroller perfect for island living, and explore four fantastic options that'll have you confidently rolling from city sidewalks to seaside adventures! The Vancouver Island Parent's Dilemma: Doorways vs. Adventures Before we get into the nitty-gritty of specific strollers, let's talk about the unique challenges you'll face as a twin parent on our beautiful island. The Doorway Challenge Vancouver Island's charming older buildings (we're looking at you, downtown Victoria!) weren't exactly designed with modern double strollers in mind. Standard exterior doorways measure 36 inches, with interior doorways measuring 30-32 inches, and many of our favourite local spots - from coffee hubs to the small shops in Oak Bay Village - may have even narrower entrances. This means your stroller choice directly impacts where you can actually go with your twins. The Terrain Reality But here's where it gets interesting! Our island lifestyle means you'll encounter everything from smooth mall floors to bumpy beachside walkways, forest trail access points, and those delightfully uneven historic sidewalks that make Victoria so charming (if occasionally stroller-unfriendly). Your perfect twin stroller needs to transition seamlessly between these environments. Meet Your Top Four Twin Stroller Contenders After years of helping Vancouver Island families find their perfect match, we've narrowed down the top four twin strollers that truly excel in our unique environment. Each brings something special to the table! Bumbleride Indie Twin What a beauty! The Bumbleride Indie Twin is back in stock at Momease & currently gracing our showroom floor in Ocean. It’s an absolutely stunning must-see in this gorgeous blue-grey Ocean colourway that perfectly captures our West Coast vibe. Why Island Parents Love It:The Indie Twin strikes the perfect balance between urban maneuverability & all-terrain capability. At 32 inches wide, it easily fits through most standard doorways (though you might need to angle it slightly through some of Victoria's more historic entrances). The air-filled rubber tires are absolute game-changers for our mixed terrain, they'll glide over those bumpy Government Street sidewalks & handle the gravel paths at Elk Lake with equal ease. Standout Features: Infant-ready right out of the box with a full seat recline & accommodate two infant car seats or Indie Twin Bassinets Each seat holds up to 45 pounds (that's staying power!) & features independent reclines with separate canopies Easy fold mechanism with carry handle (because with twins you need all the extra help you can get!) Adjustable handlebar height (perfect for sharing strolling duties) All-terrain & jogging-friendly wheels that actually mean it Convertible to a triple stroller with the purchase of the Bumbleride Mini Board toddler attachment Perfect For: Families who want one stroller that truly does it all - from grocery runs in Sidney, to afternoon hikes at Mount Work, or even a surf-side run at Willows Beach. Bugaboo Donkey 5 The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is the luxury transformer of the stroller world, and we mean that in the best possible way! This innovative design starts as a single stroller in Mono Mode & converts to accommodate 2 multi-age kids in Duo Mode, or twins (in Twin Mode, of course!), making it incredibly versatile for growing families. The Flexibility Factor:What makes the Donkey 5 special is its expandable frame design. The side luggage basket can be removed & the stroller frame extended to accommodate a second seat or pram, creating a side-by-side configuration. This means if you're planning more children or want maximum versatility, this stroller grows with your family plans. Why Vancouver Island Families Choose It:The modular design means you can configure it based on your day's plans. Running errands solo with one twin? Use single mode with maximum storage. Beach day with both kids? Expand to twin mode. The reversible seats mean your little ones can face you, each other, or the world, perfect for those scenic strolls around Tofino where they'll want to see everything! Standout Features: Transforms from single to twin configuration Infant-ready out of the box using the included Pram Fabric Sets (when purchased in Twin Mode) Fits through standard doorways in both configurations Premium suspension system with EVA & foam tires that won’t run flat! Expandable storage options Compatible with various car seat brands, plus the Comfort Wheeled Board toddler accessory if you’re strolling with 3! Perfect For: Families who love customization & want a premium stroller that adapts to different situations &  potential future siblings. UPPAbaby Vista V3 The Vista V3 is the Rolls Royce of convertible strollers, and for good reason! This inline (tandem) design is a favourite among twin families who prioritize smooth handling & premium features. The Luxury Difference:Everything about the Vista V3 feels thoughtfully designed. The inline configuration means you'll never worry about doorway width, while the top-tier construction handles everything from downtown Victoria's sidewalks to the packed walking trails of Beacon Hill Park. Twin-Specific Benefits:You can set this up with two infant car seats or two bassinets for your newborn twins, then transition to toddler mode with the addition of a RumbleSeat V3 after they reach six months. The variety of seating configurations means each child gets the perfect setup for their age & preferences. Plus, the massive storage basket underneath (seriously, it's huge!) accommodates all the extra gear that comes with twin life. Standout Features: Multiple seating configurations as children grow Narrow inline design fits everywhere Premium wheels & suspension Enormous storage capacity Can accommodate two car seats or bassinets, plus the UPPAbaby Vista PiggyBack Board for a third child if needed! Height-adjustable handlebar Available All-Terrain Wheel Set for Vista features deep grooves for better grip on rough terrain or during inclement weather Perfect For: Families who want premium quality & don't mind investing in a stroller they'll use for years to come. Cybex Gazelle S The Gazelle S is a clever, city-savvy inline that grows from single to twin without giving up that narrow footprint. For twins, you'll add the Second Seat kit; for newborn twins, choose two bassinets or two infant car seats with adapter. It slips through tight doorways around downtown Victoria, steers smoothly in busy shops, and still feels stable on those light gravel paths around Saanich. Why Vancouver Island Families Choose It:Think urban ease with serious storage. The Gazelle’s inline design keeps your width nice and slim for cafés and boutiques, while the generous under-basket handles big grocery runs and all the twin essentials. It’s ideal for city sidewalks and boardwalks; while it manages light park trails just fine, it’s not meant for rugged off-road adventures or jogging like the Bumbleride Indie Twin. Bonus for growing toddlers: both the main seat & the Second Seat are each rated to 50 lb—the highest second seat limit on the market (for reference, the UPPAbaby Vista RumbleSeat V3 can be used up to 40 lb). Standout Features: Converts from single to twin, using the Second Seat Kit. Both the main seat & the Second Seat are rated to 50 lb—the highest second seat limit available! Newborn-ready with two bassinets (or two infant car seats with adapters) Narrow inline frame fits standard doorways with room to spare One-pull harness & a quick, self-standing fold (even with both seats!) Big, easy-access under-basket; included & removable shopper basket in single mode Reversible seats with multiple recline positions & multiple configurations Perfect For: Twin families who want a sleek, city-first stroller with excellent storage, an easy fold for the trunk, flexible seating from day one—and extra seat weight limits for bigger, growing toddlers. Making the Right Choice for Your Island Lifestyle So how do you choose between these four excellent options? Consider your family's specific needs &  lifestyle patterns. Choose the Bumbleride Indie Twin if: You want the best bang for your buck All-terrain or jogging capability is a priority You need a double that handles both city & trail adventures You’re looking for infant-ready right out of the box, without purchasing extra accessories You love that gorgeous Ocean colour (seriously, it's stunning, but the Twin is also available in Black or Dusk Grey with Merino blend seat fabric) Choose the Bugaboo Donkey 5 if: You value ultimate flexibility & customization You're looking for twin prams to come standard in the box! You might occasionally stroll with just one twin A premium push & luxurious European design are your jam Choose the UPPAbaby Vista V3 if: You want the most refined, luxurious experience Doorway width is a major concern (hello condo doorways or downtown Victoria!) You prioritize smooth handling & an easy fold Storage space is crucial for your family's needs Choose the Cybex Gazelle S if: You want a more narrow, city-savvy twin setup that sails through doorways & tight spaces Big, easy-access basket storage is a must (hello, grocery runs!) Your days are mostly sidewalks, malls, and smooth park paths—with the odd gravel trail You want twin-friendly flexibility from birth with two bassinets or two car seats, and an easy fold for the trunk Pro Tips for Vancouver Island Twin Parents Test Drive First! Here's something we always tell parents: no matter how perfect a stroller looks online or sounds in reviews, you need to actually push it around. Bring both car seats if you have them, load it up with your typical gear, and see how it feels. Every family's needs are different! Consider Your Primary TerrainAre you mostly urban (Victoria, Nanaimo city centres) or do you lean more toward outdoor adventures (provincial parks, North Island, beach access or West shore)? While all four options handle mixed terrain, each has its strengths. Think Long-TermThese are significant investments that you'll use daily for years. Consider not just your needs today, but how your family lifestyle might evolve. Will you be doing more hiking as the twins get older? Planning more children? These factors matter! Don't Forget the AccessoriesRain covers are essential for Vancouver Island life! Cup holders, parent organizers, snack trays, and weather shields can make your stroller experience significantly more enjoyable. Ask about what's included versus what you'll want to add later.
